Artist in Residence

Creative artists can either help to perpetuate attitudes that underwrite gender inequalities or counter stereotypes, destabilise expectations, and question assumptions. Public facing activities that use the media and creative industries are an important part of our project. An Artist from Karnataka will be in Residence at Bluecoat for a period of three months. The Artist in Residence will undertake public talks and seminars, helping to shape discussions about constructions and representations of gender within different cultural contexts. The work produced during and after this residency will reflect on societal ideas about gender and gender expectations.
